The Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel is set in the vibrant heart of Cape Town and this luxury hotel and spa offers easy access to all that’s happening in this dynamic city.   Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel has long been regarded as one of the city’s top five-star hotels. It offers the perfect combination of leafy tranquillity and contemporary buzz.

Our appointment was for electrical design, on-site monitoring, and management including infrastructure for electronic services.    The scope of works was for the full refurbishment of 48 hotel rooms and communal passages. The building forms part of the Cape Town Heritage which posed a challenge as the majority of the structure could not be defaced or damaged.

Our design included all electrical services, for power and lighting, and the wire way infrastructure for one of the most advanced interactive customer portals.    The entire electronic services are connected to an IP network which in turn monitors and reports back to the customer via an interactive feature on the room’s television.

The rooms were fitted with Legrand switchgear which was hidden behind custom-crafted furniture, utilized standing lamps and central chandelier(s) for lighting, LED lighting within cupboards are activated via concealed magnets and elegant footlights to find your way at night within your room.  The passages make use of mechanical switching for day & night time lighting scenes.

Overall the project was an engineering success which resulted in a satisfied client and hopefully sparked positive customer feedback from guests on the newly refurbished keys.
